Rogue Passage

6-week Coming-of-Age course for Young Men ages 10-13

This course guides adolescent males through essential responsibilities and skills associated with personal and social growth, leading them to a better understanding of how they may confidently navigate toward fulfillment in an increasingly complicated world. Held one evening per week, each class addresses three primary topics curated to help young men to solidify their personal presence and intentions, to learn how to interact respectfully and productively with others, and to develop important practical skills they will expand upon throughout their lives. The course topics become increasingly sensitive with each week, beginning with basic presentation and cleanliness and culminating in discussions about what to expect in relation to changing bodies and the decisions each young man will face in the future.

The purpose of this course is to help these boys develop the concepts and self-assurance to hold themselves to a higher standard, achieved through discussions, connections, experience, and reflection. The course presents the core essence of each topic, with only the details necessary for them to expand upon their understanding in a focused manner as they continue through the world, whether at home, at school, on the court, or around town.

In addition to the listed topics, I will also weave continuity of broader concepts such as respect, self-awareness, and how each student may cultivate his own authentic gifts in ways that benefit him personally as well as those around him. I would like each young man to overcome the insecurity of this period of life by celebrating who he is as an individual, so that he may avoid common pitfalls of feeling pressured to act like someone or something else. My goal is for them to feel worthy, emotionally centered, capable, and prepared, encouraging them to take proactive steps toward their empowered future. Maybe it manifests in them being more helpful around the house, better prepared for school, more inclusive on the field, more assertive in handling difficult situations, or more confident when dealing with adults. Each student has different strengths and weaknesses, and it is my goal to help him become more well-rounded and comfortable moving through adolescence.

The 6-week course will be held Sunday evenings from 5:45-7:30p, beginning April 26, 2026, at 1595 Peachey Rd, Ashland, at a cost of $300. Enrollment with be capped at 15 students. Payments can be made in cash or personal check to Strouse Campbell to secure enrollment. There will be some ‘homework’ associated with the course, which will involve literal work around the house, social challenges, plus some accountability for written work.

We are incredibly grateful for the time our son spent learning with Strouse. His presence as a strong, grounded male role model has had a lasting impact—not just in the classroom, but in how our son relates to the world around him. He brings a rare combination of wisdom, patience, and authenticity that truly resonates with young people. Strouse is deeply committed to community-centered education, and his ability to guide youth with both structure and heart is inspiring. We especially appreciate how he weaves a respect for nature and the outdoors into his teaching, encouraging confidence, curiosity, and resilience in a meaningful way. We appreciate the care, intention, and integrity he brings to his work. It makes a difference, and it is deeply felt. -Timber M.

“Strouse made an extraordinary impact on my son during third grade. His classroom was alive with curiosity, especially through his focus on nature and the hands-on experiences he created, even bringing animals in to enrich the learning experience. He leads with integrity and has a genuine gift for connecting with children in a way that makes them feel seen, respected, and inspired. Years later, my son still talks about him, which says everything about the kind of teacher he is.” -Nicolle A.

“As our oldest child’s flag football coach, we appreciated Strouse’s intentional emphasis on communication, accountability, and resilience in the face of adversity. These qualities showed up on the field and translate powerfully into every area of life.” -Tim S.
